John Philip Kemble (1 February 1757 – 26 February 1823) was a British actor. He was born into a theatrical family as the eldest son of Roger Kemble, actor-manager of a touring troupe. His elder sister Sarah Siddons achieved fame with him on the stage of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. His other siblings, Charles Kemble, Stephen Kemble, Ann Hatton, and Elizabeth Whitlock, also enjoyed success on the stage. Samuel Dennis White was born on March 9, 1818, in Parishville, New York. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837 and in 1841 married Mary Hannah Burton in Nauvoo, Illinois. After stopping for a time in Garden Grove, Iowa, the Whites traveled to Utah in 1850, and spent the next several years working on the Cedar City settlement.
